Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

A fun-filled and hands-on experience designed for children to improve their fine motor skills, such as proper pencil grasp, basic letter and number formation, picture drawing, and scissor cutting through a multi-sensory approach. This program is for preschoolers.

Ready, Set, Go to Kindergarten!

Playful and engaging learning activities and strategies related to reading readiness, math concepts, and fine motor techniques. This program is for preschoolers.

Engaging children in basic math concepts

Number Crunchers

Engaging children in basic math concepts and builds on emerging concepts such as graphing, time telling, basic addition and subtraction, fractions and solving simple word problems through a sensory and hands on approach.

Have you ever been in a mental math games? Do you like to roll the dice? Can you solve puzzles with pattern blocks? We will build a solid foundation of basic math skills through addition and subtraction facts, problem solving skills, logical reasoning and spatial math concepts through a rich variety of math games and strategies. Who knew math could be so much fun! Suggested groups for this class include 1st-2nd and 3rd to 5th grades.

Builders

Builders

Come build some awesome creations! We will create our own designs and follow plans for building structures using Legos, recyclable materials and many other interesting items. Skills necessary none! Skills gained: computation, problem solving, reasoning, developing strategic plans, and team work. Suggested groups for this class include: k-2nd, 1st-3rd or 3rd-5th.

Hablo Espanol

Ever wondered how to say your favorite words in Spanish? Join us on a journey to be introduced to the basics of the second most spoken language in the world through an innovative dual language thematic approach with games, stories, songs, and art. Your child will have the opportunity to learn the relatives’ names, numbers, colors, alphabet, common phrases, and body parts of the Spanish language. Suggested groups for this class include k-2nd or 3rd-5th.

Bookworm for Preschoolers

Instructing pre-reading and beginning readers to blend sounds into a word, decoding simple words, syllabic decoding, beginning spelling, comprehension, and introduction to high frequency words through a host of engaging activities.

We all know reading is important, but we have a secret at Little Scholars…it is FUN! Our bookworm program is for the true book lover as well as those who are a little weary. We explore reading and writing activities in an individualized approach through sight word development, phonemic strategies, book clubs, author studies and theme related experiences.

Grab your passport because we are going to take a journey around the world! Visit a new country each week through literature, games, art activities, geography and history. Discover the thrills of travel without leaving school! Suggested groups for this class include K-2nd grade.

Writer’s Workshop

Writer’s Workshop is the perfect class for the creative writer as well as the weary scribe. We use games, descriptive writing techniques, story stretchers, persuasive language development, transition words, and comics to grow your writing skills and expand your vocabulary. Apply these skills by writing short stories, newspaper articles, mysteries, and poetry. This class was specially designed by literary specialists and classroom teachers using the best practices.

Calling all 3rd through 5th grade super sleuths! Put on your detective cap and help us solve a mystery! Become expert investigators by using critical thinking skills, problem solving and abstract reasoning as you gather clues and work to solve mysteries. Suggested group for this class is 3rd-5th grade.

Comic Creations

Do you have a knack for drawing? Do you like to write? We have the class for you! Come join us as we explore the world of comic strips. We will learn about the different styles of cartooning, create new characters, and build a portfolio of your work. This class is for 3rd-5th grade students.

Think Outside the Box

Are you an inventor? Have a flair for creative ideas? Join our think tank! We are going to invent, create, discover, illustrate, play minute to win it games, and make models using our creative minds. This class is for 3rd-5th grade students.

Newspaper Writing

Students will enjoy this creative and exciting class as you create authentic newspaper stories. As you are transformed into reporters and editors, the outcome will be to publish your own classroom newspaper. Various aspects of newspapers are covered, including parts of a newspaper, writing an article, online newspapers, newspaper reading habits, advertisements, and layout and design techniques. This class is for 2nd-5th grade students.

Girls just want to have FUN! Let’s make jewelry, a butterfly bower, learn to palm read, and many more girl only activities. Don’t miss out on being one of the girls! This class is for girls in grades K-2nd and rd-5th.

Homework Club

Don’t worry, we are here to help! Let our teachers help your child with their homework. Skills that will be incoporated include: learning extension, study skills, test taking techniques, and building confidence toward school and learning. Your child will have the opportunity to practice and reinforce skills taught in the classroom and Little Scholars will provide parents with weekly feedback. This program is for all grades.
